A regular meeting of the Subcommittee on Metallurgy and Mining Industry of the RUIE Committee for International Cooperation was held on 20 September 2018. The meeting was attended by the invited representatives of the Eurasian Economic Commission, as well as the ITI experts — M.A. Vorobev, E.K. Bashkirova, D.Iu. Antonova. The problems of overproduction in the metallurgical industry within G-20 and B-20 were discussed at this meeting. The meeting participants heard reports of E.K. Bashkirova, the Deputy Head of the Granting and Trade Protection Analysis Department of ITI, and M.A. Vorobev, the Director for Expert and Analytical Work of ITI,  on the main characteristics of the Chinese aluminum smelting and processing industry; China’s competitive position in the international aluminum market and tendencies that need to be taken into account in shaping both the business strategy of domestic producers of similar products concerning issues of dealing with the Chinese partners and the foreign trade policy of the authorities of the Russian Federation and the Eurasian Economic Union with regard to the PRC (relevant facts and conclusions are set forth in the analytical report “China in the International Market of Aluminum and Aluminum Products” prepared by ITI and presented during the meeting).
